    HAUT COUTURE

HAUT is the Europe’s first wooden residential tower for people who seek a sustainable and minimalist lifestyle with ultimate balance and comfort. They are affluent and discerned without the need for showing off. HAUT is a new way of urban living for likeminded individuals who live in the now, with their eyes on the future.

Our interiors follow these sensibilities with a thoughtful and tailor-made design that exudes understated luxury. The overall envelope is pure and premium defined by an open, sweeping layout and honest circular materials. Wood in graduating shades is the signature that continues the architectural palette indoor. The natural materials will age with integrity, giving the living spaces a new and ever-evolving character over the years. A selection of hand picked and bespoke furniture pieces set the stage for comfortable and minimalist living, where abundant daylight and sweeping views are an everyday pleasure. Without imposing style over substance, the HAUT apartments are an effortless setting for the owner’s individual taste.

    EXTRA-ORDINARY

De Hooch offers luxury apartments in the centre of Amsterdam, sold at the highest market price. This level of ambition required an innovative way of thinking - an interior that spoke to the versatile needs of high net worth individuals and grew more beautiful with time.

Our design moves away from opulence towards personalisation and low-key refinement. Tactile natural materials with a character are the soul of the space. They bring warmth, authenticity and a sense of wellness, while evolving over time with unique and surprising details. Tough textures, such as concrete, coexist with luxurious patinated brass, wood, marble and leather, creating multiple worlds within one space. The wooden shutters gently filter the light into an open and seemingly boundless apartment.

The entrance reveals a stately yet intimate living room that transitions into the study with glass pivot doors. Salvaged vintage floorboards are repurposed into a unique floor pattern to define the living room and kitchen. In contrast, the dining area features a rough concrete floor and a large black table, flanked by dramatically lit wine shelves and accessorised with TANK’s custom-designed TNK.01 chandelier.

The kitchen is the centrepiece of the residence, featuring a colossal marble island wedged between two columns. The back unit can be closed off for ventilation during cooking. The kitchen’s back-wall is made from glass bricks, transmitting the light and showcasing views onto the balcony.

All areas are open and versatile, inviting the residents to use different spaces for multiple needs.

    PLAY IT COOL

Friends Call Me Jim is a brand new indoor playground and gym for children between 2 and 7. It fuses an active playscape with state-of-the-art technology and original stories to immerse kids into action and adventure. This hypermodern concept is based on the insight that urban kids move less and less, spending more time on digital entertainment. Friends Call Me Jim combines the best of both worlds, capturing imagination and fostering motor skills through dynamic interactive play.

Parents are welcome to join in on the fun, socialise, unwind and even do some work without losing sight of their kids. A relaxation lounge with an open kitchen makes them feel at home, offering healthy snacks and drinks.

Our design purposefully emphasises this connection - between parents and kids, movement and relaxation, play and exercise. The original layout had a clear division of the active and “relax” zones, separated by a solid wall. There was no interaction between the areas and no point for parents to stick around, as they couldn’t see the children. We changed this by moving the “relax” zone to the back and splitting the active zone in two parts, enabling parents to see the full width of the playground. The walls are made from glass, creating a transparent space where everyone feels part of the experience.

Movement is another essential element of the interior. The ceiling lines break away from a grid into a dynamic pattern that echoes kids’ movements and stretches over the entire space as a unifying gesture. The entrance to the “relax” zone leads through the playscape, immediately embracing parents in the lively energy of play.

Colour was key in creating a world where both grown ups and kids feel inspired and welcome. We balanced the vibrancy and exuberance of the children universe with modern hues that were equally appealing for grown ups. The tones are fresh, playful and unique, setting Friends Call Me Jim apart from a standard playground.

    SUSTAINABLE LUXURY

    Persijn Juniper&Kin, boardrooms & hotellobby

With the interior design of the QO Amsterdam, we want to prove that sustainable is beautiful. You don’t need to sacrifice comfort or aesthetic pleasure to contribute to a better world. At every step of the QO experience, we celebrate the brand’s ethos of sustainable luxury.

For us, sustainable luxury lives and evolves with its surroundings. It’s always in dialogue with nature and in tune with the senses. That’s why we chose to stage the austere building as the canvas for the experience and use the interior as a “jewel” that adorns it. The building’s authentic structure and materials take the spotlight, amplified by a natural and tactile interior palette. A round shape language and abundant natural light infuse the space with a sense of relaxation and well-being.

The hotel has a rooftop greenhouse for fresh ingredients in the QO kitchens. We re-interpreted this feature into a greenhouse-style framework that becomes a storytelling thread throughout the hotel. The lightweight structure visually links the different floors, defines zones without the use of heavy partitions and brings the daylight in.

Each floor and experience has its own nature-inspired colour scheme to set a distinct mood and intuitively guide the guest. Persijn, the Dutch eatery on the ground floor, features a palette of brown, green and ocher, reminiscent of grain fields. The mezzanine reception celebrates the sensorial opulence of Dutch flower fields. The meeting rooms on the first floor evoke Dutch waters with a cool palette of blues and greys. The rooftop bar Juniper & Kin immerses the guests in the intense tones of a starry night - a perfect pairing for the breathtaking view.

The layout of the space takes after an informal social room with many ways to meet and interact: from enjoying a drink at the bar to lounging on the sofas. The reception island, accessible from all sides, suggests an open and friendly welcome.

All these elements come together into a living, breathing space that syncs with the building and flow of the day, embodying the philosophy behind sustainable luxury.

    HOW BIG? IT'S MASSIVE!

A grand welcome to the Massive Music headquarters. Massive Music is an international music agency with its roots in Amsterdam - to be specific, on the 15th floor of the A’DAM Tower. The company believes in the social value of music and how it transforms the way people connect and interact. The design for their office had to be bold, urban and inviting. Resulting in long hanging concrete desks, jam-lounge and a multifunctional kitchen element that functions as bar/dj-booth and lunch table all at once.

    IT'S A FAMILY AFFAIR

A’DAM&Co is a members club located on the 18th floor of the A’DAM Toren, a multifunctional tower in the north of Amsterdam. In 2016 the A’DAM Toren was created by Amsterdam’s brightest entrepreneurs. The tower hosts observation decks, cafes, start-ups, a 24-hour club, a music school for kids and a revolving restaurant. A’DAM&Co reflects the tower’s creative spirit by bringing together a community of change-makers with a passion for collaboration. The first of its kind in Amsterdam, the club invites all members to curate its program.

Our challenge was to create a place of contrasts; a private club that felt inclusive, warm and familiar yet exclusive, spectacular and prestigious. A place where each member felt special and part of a whole. The circular space offered a breathtaking 360-degree views, but also presented acoustic and zoning challenges. As a solution was we created a grand gesture that gathered members around the core and organically branched into more intimate places.

We took a cue from the tower’s name A’DAM, finding inspiration in the Garden of Eden, where Adam and Eve gathered around the Tree of Life. A spectacular, abstracted tree shapes the heart of the experience and embraces all members around a grand oval bar. Designed as a freestanding table, the bar creates an informal atmosphere where everyone can mingle freely. The Instagram-worthy wooden tree branches out to define elegant nooks and lounges styled with a mix of antique and modern furniture. The organic framework keeps the space open, inclusive and cohesive, while hiding equipments and stimulating acoustics.

The material palette adds to the poetry of the space with a contrast of simple raw materials like plywood and refined hospitality textures, such as brass and copper. A cool, all-steel, cosmopolitan lobby sets the stage for the rich experience once you’re in.

ADAM&Co is winner of the Restaurant and Bar Design Award for the best European bar.

    PARKSIDE ON THE EASTSIDE

Hotel Arena is located in Amsterdam’s major public park Oosterpark, within a listed building dating back to 1886. Once a Catholic orphanage, then a municipal sleep-in and eventually a youth and culture centre, Hotel Arena was re-opened as a 3-starred hospitality destination in 2002. Over the years it transformed into a 4-star hotel, undergoing its final renovation in 2017, including a new wing with additional rooms, an event venue in the restored chapel and an integration of two pavilions. The entrance was moved park-side to benefit from the hotel’s lush location within the city park.

In collaboration with Team V Architecture, we welcomed nature in to design the new spaces. Each area brings the outside in with a warm and natural material palette, complemented by sustainably sourced furniture. Open layouts, plenty of daylight and a greenery transform Hotel Arena into the extension of Oosterpark. One of the major challenges was to preserve the characteristics of the historical building and connect them with the new spaces. We kept the original elements clean and white to showcase the monumental architecture, while giving the new areas a timeless and cozy quality with accent touches like a fireplace or vintage furniture.

The Park cafe-restaurant, housed in one of the new pavilions, is an organic continuation of the park-side entrance. Here nature and urban dwelling seamlessly blend to offer Amsterdammers and visitors alike an escape from city bustle. The outer glass walls remove the indoor-outdoor boundary and give the space an airy quality. Earthy tones of timber and leather are contrasted with concrete and smokey-blue velvet furnishings to create an eclectic urban vibe.

Upon entering, a free-hanging fireplace frames the lounge area to create a convivial welcome. The island bar leads into the dining experience, complete with a prepping counter and a wine display at the back. A wooden floor elevation and a grid of reinforced steel over a timber ceiling intuitively call out the dining area within the space. The cocktail zone around the bar transitions towards greenhouses framed by a series of green trellises, where guests can dwell, work and replenish. During the day Park is a relaxing sanctuary in the heart of the city. At night it’s a vibrant hotspot, beaming with energy and light in the midst of Oosterpark.

    A COSMOPOLITAN OUTLOOK

OD75 is a redevelopment project that transforms an old Shell office in Amsterdam into a residential property. We designed the interior for the building’s luxury penthouse, located on the brand new rooftop with floor-to-ceiling glass walls and panoramic views.

The interior is a contemporary take on luxury, with a mix of everyday and premium materials, ranging from thick wood, concrete, marble, brass and velvet. Grand bold gestures visually zone the space, creating a “landmark” for each area. A continuous marble block transitions from a kitchen into a bar overlooking the cityscape to create a flexible leisure, eating and working space. A large dining table sets the area for private gatherings, anchored by TANK’s custom-designed TNK.01 chandelier. Positioned on an elevated wooden platform, the open living room features a generous sofa, complemented by a modern fireplace that adds a cozy touch along with a seating nook for reading and lounging. The bedroom is a wellness sanctuary with stunning views, complete with a sumptuous bathtub and vanity table.

During the day, the open space brings in the light and an airy outdoor feel. At night, an articulated lighting landscape creates different moods throughout the house.

    CUTTING EDGE EXPERIENCE

For Cut Throat, TANK steered clear from the typical 'vintage' barbershop look and designed a unique interior. The interior pays homage to the historical site whilst incorporating masculine materials and cool palette that bridges the existing building with the Cut Throat brand. It was important not to fight with the existing architectural language and overwhelmingly warm colour palette. Thus as a principle, TANK treated any new design element and materials in a controlled and consistent way. anything new that was added stayed within a palette of cool, reflective, fresh and natural materials such as zinc, steel, wood and white stone. This all reflects the boys New Zealand's heritage and outdoor lifestyle.
"Cut Throat was never about a look or a trend - it was about creating a place where we would want to hang out ourselves"

    GLOBETROTTERS HQ

David Lewis’ DJ’s and personnel are true globetrotters. The new David Lewis headquarters had to emanate that on-the-go nature. At the same time it had to offer a home-away-from-home to those who regularly, or occasionally, touch base in Holland’s capital.

The interior with bespoke presentation furniture fits perfectly with the company’s international and innovative character. It showcases a variety of design snuffs such as lighting in the shape of zebra crossings covered by a subway style block roster and window frames shaped like steel pillars like on a train platform.
TANK designed the custom made tables using wooden beams coated with epoxy (resembling railway ties) and industrial steel framing.
The whole space is executed in black, gray and white tones, giving a couple of interior elements the chance to really stand out. For example the world map in the main meeting room, where all DJ’s are ‘pinned’ to their current location, and the super green plants surrounding the entire office space. Special tanned barn wood covers one-third of the walls, completing the office with that homey touch.
